Good afternoon, everyone!

The topic of my speech today is “Do trust us—a generation born in the 90s”.

Living in an environment full of fierce competition, we, a generation born in

the 90s, are faced with more problems in entering higher schools and getting employed. Under these circumstances, we are developing our special manners and values, which has raised people’s concern.

They worry we care too much about ourselves and are unwilling to cooperate with others, which makes it hard for us to achieve success in whatever we do. Besides, they consider us as lacking in perseverance, and this is what it takes to do any job well. Without it, we may easily give up in time of difficulty. They are also concerned that we are so eager to win instant fame that we follow fashion blindly, which will in turn ruin our values and future.

However, we, a generation born in the 90s, have our own advantages despite some weaknesses. Firstly, we have the courage to meet challenges and take risks, which helps realize our dreams. In addition, we are quick-minded and creative. We can do our work more efficiently. Of course, we still need to learn more from those experienced. Please do trust us!

Thank you for your listening!

The comments of advantages and disadvantage human being of the people who born before 20xxs' plays a independent role in the modern society. Some of them said people who born before 20xxs’ were self-fish and have no idea with expect. The opposite held that their behavior is depence on the educator which their parents. Based upon the comments, I will discuss both view and try to find a eqibulium point on it.

The 20xxs' does not have to take all responsibility to their disrespect issue, as we known, most of us were only-child in our family, which means our parents provide all kind of objective stuff to satisfied our requirment. They provide and do not want get any reponse but the results of exam. However, they are working on their career and got less time to have a chat with their children, that is the directly major impact of the children. When they get some problem, such as robed by the gangster in school, they would not be able to talk to their parents, because of they are busy. The fact, children who disrespect to other people had a directly relationship with what their parents teaching.

As I mentioned, parents should have to take some responsibility of children's behavior, on the other hand. 20xxs' still need to find out the problem on themselves. To escaped the reason of their behavior coming, they still have some sparking point, such as creative.

Their parents bring them to learn some classes they are interested in, such as piano. According to this, their life were diversity. They do what their like, no body force them to do anything. According to this, they are highly concentrate and dedicated in what they like, and they mint be able to achive more in they area.

To conclusion, the major part of 20xx's are simply normal like what their parents do. They were copy the behavior of their parents, in this point, there are no such thing wrong but the education. Parents does what they should do, and the children will not be able to walking down to the wrong way.

I was 90 after I was born chilling when bird flu, the outbreak of SARS to enter primary school, into the middle slightly, H1N1 influenza, together with the 5.12 earthquake comes, we, that is 90, the group slowly from the disaster children grow up.

We are full of dreams.

One day, I will fly mysterious light in the blue sky, one day, I will board a scissors-lunge Everest towering stern, I went back to expansive Pacific Ocean and settled down, I will complain and flashing stars, and moonlight conversation. We have endless time and space beyond the imagination, we compared the relations withered vine gloomy Tielao living the dream, we will a yellow leaves to chase a dream than the wings, because I was 90, my sky is blue, the most mysterious.

We are also full of tired brain.

A dazzling work books, one by one morning to evening in the shadow, what "ABCD", what "ancient proses", and "Math", the weight of fragile our breath, but totally up in the night under the glare of lights, you have sweet sleep peacefully, and we, are to "work" you fight it off. Window and waves of icy wind blowing, I can not help but play a shivering, a root hair have erected a huge operation to attack the army.

We are full of confidence.

"Teacher, this problem I have even better approach Road." "Ha ha, I must take this test first." "We must win the class competition." This is a unique self-confidence so that we more than others, no doubt, 90 the edge, so we have to move for more than others, the driving force, more full of confidence in facing life's difficulties.

We have a tremendous spirit of solidarity.

Yes, to do anything just to help each other, rubbing each other to success uniting in solidarity mutual aid collective of life, we improve the efficiency of a full several times a day can keep Yichang happy mood, "the grace of dripping, springs with newspaper." In this harvest to harvest and where the collective, like spring rain General selfless, XIA Xue generally fresh, autumn generally thorough, general warm winter. We are united, after 90 happy.

Let us work hand in hand to create a better world after the fall of 90. We are neat looking at the sky, listening to, is the angel in the words: "I ... ... after that ... ... ... ... 90 "

I like for youto be still:

it is as throughyou are absent

and you hear mefrom far away and my voice does not touch you

It seems asthrough your eyes had flown away

and it seemsthat a kiss had sealed your mouth

as all thingsare filled with my soul

your emerge fromthe things, fill with my soul

you are like mysoul, a butterfly of dreams

and you are likethe word melancholy

I like for you to be still, and you seemfar away

It sounds asthough you are lamenting,

a butterflycooing like a dove

And you hear mefrom far away,

and my voice does not reach you

Let me come tobe still in your silence

And let me talkto you with your silence

That is brightlike a lamp, simple as a ring

You are like thenight, with its stillness and constellations

Your silence is that of a star, as remount and candid

I like for you to be still: it is as though you are absent

distant and dull of sorrow, as though you had died

One word then, one smile, is enough

And I m happy, happy that’s not true

Hello everyone,it's really my honor to be y, shall we talk about courage.

Courage is not only found in the heat of war or the mighty works of brave men and women. Courage is the mother taking care of her sick child in the early morning hours. Courage is the father who shows up on time everyday at a boring, low-paying, dead-end job to feed and clothe his family.

Courage comes in many forms, not only from thoughts and deeds of greatness, but in the routine, everyday art of living.

Just gather up enough courage to take you through this day. You only have to live one day at a time. You do not have to deal with all your troubles at one time. Like the Scotsman said, "The troubles of tomorrow must wait until this day is done."

Yes, courage comes from deep within the heart and flushes away the paralysis created by fear. A song, a story, a poem or a friend could re-ignite the spark of courage and inspire us to take the next step to success.

That’s all,thank you!

Good afternoon, honorable judges, dear teachers & friends.

I'm Lai Senhan from the University of International Business & Economics. Do you know what date is it today? Today is the Olympic Date. I'm so glad to stand here today to share my idea about Beijing Olympic Games together with you all. The title of my speech is: what can we do for Beijing Olympic Games?

First of all, let me tell you a story that happened 2 years ago. At the end of August, 20xx, when I decided to come to Beijing for study, my friends hel* * rewell Party for me. They said: after your graduation, you should look for a job in Beijing, and then in 20xx, we shall go to visit you during the Olympic Games. I laughed and answered: OK, no problem!

Time flied and 2 years passed. Now I am a graduate. My teachers and classmates always ask me: what's your plan after your graduation? Go back home, stay in Beijing, or go to some other places? And I always answer: I will stay in Beijing. I make this decision not because of my promise to my friends 2 years ago, but because: I've fallen in love with Beijing! I'm eager to welcome the coming Olympic Games together with my fellow countrymen, and I wish I could do something for the Olympics & for the city.

As we know, Beijing

the first time i saw bao was in , the year when thomas and uber cup was held. at that time he was playing against li zongwei, who is also a good player from malaysia. bao beat him. to tell the truth, at first the reason why i liked him was just because i thought he was pretty.*(maybe it is not a suitable word, but i think no better word can describe him, he is really pretty!) from that time, i have focused on him. then gradually, i found that he not only has good appearance, but also has a talent for badminton.

he is very tall, about 1.90 meters. he is the tallest one among all the players in the chinese badminton team. in , he is chosen as the flag holder stands for china in the opening ceremony in the 15th asian games held in doha. it was the first time that the badminton players were chosen to take over the special task, before which time, it belonged to the basketball players. it was a great honor. and it also proved that bao was an excellent athlete. we are all proud of him.

he began to play badminton when he was at primary school. in , he won his first good medal, which was significant to him, in guangzhou. because of that, he entered the chinese badminton team. as he is as old as lin dan, who is the top one in the world, he is always put into a situation wh(。)ich is not good to him. he seldom beats lin dan, so he gained a name which is called’千年老二’. in fact, his techniques are comprehensive, but he is lack of passion, the desire to win is not so strong. so he always has misplays. due to this, he seldom wins the gold medal. i think this is related to his character. he is easygoing and couth; he looks as if he will never get angry with anybody. so this affects him while he is playing badminton. in a period of time, critical voice has come towards him. he is under great pressure. he was not in the best state. but recently he cheers up again. several days ago, the chinese badminton championship was held in guangzhou. i went to see him on saturday. i was very excited, and i shouted loudly, hoping he could hear me. there is no doubt that he won the game. before he went away, he waved hand to us, how excited i was at that time! the next day, he beat li zongwei again and he won the man’s single gold medal. all of us are very happy. after 7 years, which could be a long time for an athlete, he proved himself again in guangzhou, which is considered as his lucky place.

Love Your Life

However mean your life is, meet it and live it; do not shun it and call it hard is not so bad as you are.

It looks poorest when you are fault-finder will find faults in paradise. Love your life, poor as it is.

You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poor-house. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the alms-house as brightly as from the rich man's abode; the snow melts before its door as early in the spring. I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts, as in a palace.

The town's poor seem to me often to live the most independent lives of any. Maybe they are simply great enough to receive without misgiving. Most think that they are above being supported by the town; but it often happens that they are not above supporting themselves by dishonest means. which should be more disreputable.

Cultivate poverty like a garden herb, like not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old, return to them.

Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts.

So it's 1995, I'm in college, and a friend and I go on a road trip from Providence, Rhode Island to Portland, Oregon.

And you know, we're young and unemployed, so we do the whole thing on back roads through state parks and national forests -- basically the longest route we can possibly take.

And somewhere in the middle of South Dakota, I turn to my friend and I ask her a question that's been bothering me for 2,000 miles.

"What's up with the Chinese character I keep seeing by the side of the road?"

My friend looks at me totally blankly.

There's actually a gentleman in the front row who's doing a perfect imitation of her look.

(Laughter) And I'm like, "You know, all the signs we keep seeing with the Chinese character on them."

She just stares at me for a few moments, and then she cracks up, because she figures out what I'm talking about.

And what I'm talking about is this.

(Laughter) Right, the famous Chinese character for picnic area.

(Laughter) I've spent the last five years of my life thinking about situations exactly like this -- why we sometimes misunderstand the signs around us,

and how we behave when that happens, and what all of this can tell us about human nature.

In other words, as you heard Chris say, I've spent the last five years thinking about being wrong.

This might strike you as a strange career move, but it actually has one great advantage: no job competition.

(Laughter) In fact, most of us do everything we can to avoid thinking about being wrong, or at least to avoid thinking about the possibility that we ourselves are wrong.

We get it in the abstract.

We all know everybody in this room makes mistakes.

The human species, in general, is fallible -- okay fine.

But when it comes down to me right now, to all the beliefs I hold, here in the present tense, suddenly all of this abstract appreciation of fallibility goes out the window -- and I can't actually think of anything I'm wrong about.

And the thing is, the present tense is where we live.

We go to meetings in the present tense; we go on family vacations in the present tense; we go to the polls and vote in the present tense.

So effectively, we all kind of wind up traveling through life, trapped in this little bubble of feeling very right about everything.

I think this is a problem.

I think it's a problem for each of us as individuals, in our personal and professional lives, and I think it's a problem for all of us collectively as a culture.

So what I want to do today is, first of all, talk about why we get stuck inside this feeling of being right.

And second, why it's such a problem.

And finally, I want to convince you that it is possible to step outside of that feeling, and that, if you can do so, it is the single greatest

moral, intellectual and creative leap you can make.

So why do we get stuck in this feeling of being right?

One reason actually has to do with a feeling of being wrong.

So let me ask you guys something -- or actually, let me ask you guys something, because you're right here: How does it feel -- emotionally --

how does it feel to be wrong?

Dreadful. Thumbs down.

Embarrassing. Okay, wonderful, good.

Dreadful, thumbs down, embarrassing -- thank you, these are great answers, but they're answers to a different question.

You guys are answering the question: How does it feel to realize you're wrong?

(Laughter) Realizing you're wrong can feel like all of that and a lot of other things, right?

I mean it can be devastating, it can be revelatory, it can actually be quite funny, like my stupid Chinese character mistake.

But just being wrong doesn't feel like anything.

I'll give you an analogy.

Do you remember that Loony Tunes cartoon where there's this pathetic coyote who's always chasing and never catching a roadrunner?

In pretty much every episode of this cartoon, there's a moment where the coyote is chasing the roadrunner and the roadrunner runs off a cliff,

which is fine, he's a bird, he can fly.

But the thing is, the coyote runs off the cliff right after him.

And what's funny -- at least if you're six years old -- is that the coyote's totally fine too.

He just keeps running -- right up until the moment that he looks down and realizes that he's in mid-air.

That's when he falls.

When we're wrong about something -- not when we realize it, but before that -- we're like that coyote after he's gone off the cliff and before he looks down.

You know, we're already wrong, we're already in trouble, but we feel like we're on solid ground.

So I should actually correct something I said a moment ago.

It does feel like something to be wrong; it feels like being right.

(Laughter) So this is one reason, a structural reason, why we get stuck inside this feeling of rightness.

I call this error blindness.

Most of the time, we don't have any kind of internal cue to let us know that we're wrong about something, until it's too late.

But there's a second reason that we get stuck inside this feeling as well -- and this one is cultural.

Think back for a moment to elementary school.

You're sitting there in class, and your teacher is handing back quiz papers, and one of them looks like this.

This is not mine, by the way.

(Laughter) So there you are in grade school, and you know exactly what to think about the kid who got this paper.

It's the dumb kid, the troublemaker, the one who never does his homework.

So by the time you are nine years old, you've already learned, first of all, that people who get stuff wrong are lazy, irresponsible dimwits --

and second of all, that the way to succeed in life is to never make any mistakes.

We learn these really bad lessons really well.

And a lot of us -- and I suspect, especially a lot of us in this room -- deal with them by just becoming perfect little A students,

perfectionists, over-achievers.

Right, Mr. CFO, astrophysicist, ultra-marathoner?

(Laughter) You're all CFO, astrophysicists, ultra-marathoners, it turns out.

Okay, so fine.

那很好

Except that then we freak out at the possibility that we've gotten something wrong.

Because according to this, getting something wrong means there's something wrong with us.

So we just insist that we're right, because it makes us feel smart and responsible and virtuous and safe.

So let me tell you a story.

A couple of years ago, a woman comes into Beth Israel Deaconess medical center for a surgery.

Beth Israel's in Boston.

Beth Israel

It's the teaching hospital for Harvard -- one of the best hospitals in the country.

So this woman comes in and she's taken into the operating room.

She's anesthetized, the surgeon does his thing -- stitches her back up, sends her out to the recovery room.

Everything seems to have gone fine.

And she wakes up, and she looks down at herself, and she says, "Why is the wrong side of my body in bandages?"

Well the wrong side of her body is in bandages because the surgeon has performed a major operation on her left leg instead of her right one.

When the vice president for health care quality at Beth Israel spoke about this incident, he said something very interesting.

He said, "For whatever reason, the surgeon simply felt that he was on the correct side of the patient."

(Laughter) The point of this story is that trusting too much in the feeling of being on the correct side of anything can be very dangerous.

This internal sense of rightness that we all experience so often is not a reliable guide to what is actually going on in the external world.

And when we act like it is, and we stop entertaining the possibility that we could be wrong, well that's when we end up doing things

dumping 200 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, or torpedoing the global economy.

So this is a huge practical problem.

But it's also a huge social problem.

Think for a moment about what it means to feel right.

It means that you think that your beliefs just perfectly reflect reality.

And when you feel that way, you've got a problem to solve, which is, how are you going to explain all of those people who disagree with you?

It turns out, most of us explain those people the same way, by resorting to a series of unfortunate assumptions.

The first thing we usually do when someone disagrees with us is we just assume they're ignorant.

They don't have access to the same information that we do, and when we generously share that information with them, they're going to see the light and come on over to our team.

When that doesn't work, when it turns out those people have all the same facts that we do and they still disagree with us, then we move on to a second assumption,

which is that they're idiots.

(Laughter) They have all the right pieces of the puzzle, and they are too moronic to put them together correctly.

And when that doesn't work, when it turns out that people who disagree with us have all the same facts we do and are actually pretty smart,

then we move on to a third assumption: they know the truth, and they are deliberately distorting it for their own malevolent purposes.

So this is a catastrophe.

This attachment to our own rightness keeps us from preventing mistakes when we absolutely need to and causes us to treat each other terribly.

to me, what's most baffling and most tragic about this is that it misses the whole point of being human.

It's like we want to imagine that our minds are just these perfectly translucent windows and we just gaze out of them and describe the world as it unfolds.

And we want everybody else to gaze out of the same window and see the exact same thing.

That is not true, and if it were, life would be incredibly boring.

The miracle of your mind isn't that you can see the world as it is.

It's that you can see the world as it isn't.

We can remember the past, and we can think about the future, and we can imagine what it's like to be some other person in some other place.

And we all do this a little differently, which is why we can all look up at the same night sky and see this and also this and also this.

And yeah, it is also why we get things wrong.

1,200 years before Descartes said his famous thing about "I think therefore I am,"

this guy, St. Augustine, sat down and wrote "Fallor ergo sum" -- "I err therefore I am."

Augustine understood that our capacity to screw up, it's not some kind of embarrassing defect in the human system, something we can eradicate or overcome.

It's totally fundamental to who we are.

Because, unlike God, we don't really know what's going on out there.

And unlike all of the other animals, we are obsessed with trying to figure it out.

To me, this obsession is the source and root of all of our productivity and creativity.

Last year, for various reasons, I found myself listening to a lot of episodes of the Public Radio show This American Life.

And so I'm listening and I'm listening, and at some point, I start feeling like all the stories are about being wrong.

And my first thought was, "I've lost it.

I've become the crazy wrongness lady.

I just imagined it everywhere,"

which has happened.

But a couple of months later, I actually had a chance to interview Ira Glass, who's the host of the show.

Ira Glass

And I mentioned this to him, and he was like, "No actually, that's true.

In fact," he says, "as a staff, we joke that every single episode of our show has the same crypto-theme.

And the crypto-theme is: 'I thought this one thing was going to happen and something else happened instead.' And thing is," says Ira Glass, "we need this.

We need these moments of surprise and reversal and wrongness to make these stories work."

And for the rest of us, audience members, as listeners, as readers, we eat this stuff up.

We love things like plot twists and red herrings and surprise endings.

When it comes to our stories, we love being wrong.

But, you know, our stories are like this because our lives are like this.

We think this one thing is going to happen and something else happens instead.

George Bush thought he was going to invade Iraq, find a bunch of weapons of mass destruction, liberate the people and bring democracy to the Middle East.

And something else happened instead.

And Hosni Mubarak thought he was going to be dictator of Egypt for the rest of his life, until he got too old or too sick and could pass the reigns of power onto his son.

And something else happened instead.

And maybe you thought you were going to grow up and marry your high school sweetheart and move back to your home town and raise a bunch of kids together.

And something else happened instead.

And I have to tell you that I thought I was writing an incredibly nerdy book about a subject everybody hates for an audience that would never materialize.

And something else happened instead.

(Laughter) I mean, this is life.

For good and for ill, we generate these incredible stories about the world around us, and then the world turns around and astonishes us.

No offense, but this entire conference is an unbelievable monument to our capacity to get stuff wrong.

We just spent and entire week talking about innovations and advancements and improvements, but you know why we need all of those innovations

and advancements and improvements?

Because half the stuff that's the most mind-boggling and world altering -- TED 1998 -- eh.

(Laughter) Didn't really work out that way, did it.

(Laughter) Where's my jet pack, Chris?

Chris?

(Laughter) (Applause) So here we are again.

And that's how it goes.

We come up with another idea.

We tell another story.

We hold another conference.

The theme of this one, as you guys have now heard seven million times, is the rediscovery of wonder.

And to me, if you really want to rediscover wonder, you need to step outside of that tiny, terrified space of rightness and look around at each other

and look out at the vastness and complexity and mystery of the universe and be able to say, "Wow, I don't know.

Maybe I'm wrong."

Thank you.

(Applause) Thank you guys.

I am very glad to stand here to give thier a short y my topic is that the youth are the future of motherland

When preparing for the English speech contest, I simply want to search some articles as the contents of my speech. I read a lot of articles, some from the university professor, some from the famous host, some from the college students, and even from junior high school students. But after reading it, I gave up the idea, I even felt shameful. Today, the topic I want to talk about is a solemn and serious theme full of glory and pride, which is a common aspiration of all our Chinese. Every Chinese has his own dream of China, and of course, there is a dream lingering in my heart only belongs to my own.

So what’s my Chinese dream ? Finally I will announce.

We had learned a lot of knowledge and understood a lot of truth in the book. We had a basic concept to our country at that time. We know that our country is full of sunshine , and we are the future of our country, and our dreams are to be the hope of our motherland.

However,We don't know what time to start,We are grow up,Life became not the same, though we don’t want to admit, it’s the truth that our mind and attitude to our country is changing. Our society became full of deception, indifference, intrigue, pressure, corruption, sinister, and we became irritable and not calm, detest the world and its ways. Our country seems to have become in a disastrous state too. A lot of young students who were nurtured by our motherland became impatient, let alone what are their dreams , what is the china dream ?

I was surprised ,when the old man fell down in the street,We are afraid to help him.I was disappointed ,when someone do good things were reported, many people think he was affectation, I was sad, when I saw many of young people become indifferent ,fraud and lack of ideal.

Are we sick, or is our dear motherland sick?

I don't want to talk about the construction of our country politics, and also speak impassioned speech on the Diaoyu Island event .I just want to appeal young people, showing the side of youth, good and must learn to organize our own thoughts, correct our own concept, and change our direction to the right side in future life. China dream actually lies in our young generation, especially of the intellectuals.

Perhaps the strength of a person is small, but when his or her fate is connected with the motherland, he or she will be hero or heroine. Perhaps a dream is tiny, but when it becomes the dream of a country, it becomes inestimable. Perhaps I cannot change our country by my own, but if thousands and thousands of young people struggle for the dream together, our motherland is enough to make the world shock.

I dream to construct our beauty China with millions of young people who have the same dream. We do it without exaggeration but only with persistence.

That is my speech,thanks everyone.

Springs are not always the same. In some years, April bursts upon Virginia hills in one prodigious leap – and all the stage is filled at once, whole choruses of tulips, arabesques of forsythia, cadenzas of flowering plum. The trees grow leaves overnight.

In other years, spring tiptoes in. It pauses, overcome by shyness, like my grandchild at the door, peeping in, ducking out of sight, giggling in the hallway. “I know you’re out there,” I cry. “Come in!” And April slips into our arms.

The dogwood bud, pale green, is inlaid with russet markings. Within the perfect cup a score of clustered seeds are nestled. One examines the bud in awe: Where were those seeds a month ago? The apples display their milliner’s scraps of ivory silk, rose-tinged. All the sleeping things wake up – primrose, baby iris, blue phlox. The earth warms – you can smell it, feel it, crumble April in your hands.

Look to the rue anemone, if you will, or the pea patch, or to the stubborn weed that thrusts its shoulders through a city street. This is how it was, is now, and ever shall be, the world without end. In the serene certainty of spring recurring, who can fear the distant fall?

Founder of Success Napoleon Hill said: "The self-confidence, manage human use and the only channel universe, Infinite Intelligence is all the 'miracle' of the foundation of all scientific laws can not be the birthplace of the mystery of miracles . "he also said that such a thought-provoking words:" If we analyze the personality of those outstanding figures, you will see they have a common characteristic: they start work before, always fully believe in themselves the ability to remove all difficulties and obstacles, until victory! "

Indeed, in large part to promote confidence in a person's success, many people start from the history we are all evident. Confident people from distress to rescue, you can see the successful people in the dark light, can give people the power struggle. Perhaps you could say: "With confidence, you have half the success."

Work the same two people, self-confidence of people at work in a more relaxed when the Association of the way through: Dang good job done, we will consider it for our own strength, in the event Shizaiwufa completed The task, then that might be really difficult task in itself. The lack of self-confidence of people will bring success to good luck, the ability to not fail as their own home. However, as this little psychological difference, although the two spent time and energy are similar, but often more self-confident side of the gain is much greater.

To those of us who are blind to the consequences of their choices, I would like to say, To choose means to take responsibility. When we are making choices for ourselves, we cannot casually say: "It's just my own business. " As policy makers of the next century, we cannot fail to see our responsibility to those who share the earth with us.

The traditional Chinese culture teaches us to study hard and work hard so as to honor our family. To me, however, this family is not just the five of us who quarreled over television programmes. Rather, it is the whole of the human family. As I am making my choices, I will not forget the smile of my teacher when I correctly spelled out the word "China" for the first time, I will not forget the happy faces of the boys and girls we helped to send back to school in the mountains of Jiangxi Province. I will not forget the tearful eyes of women and children in Bosnia, Chechnya and Somali, where millions are suffering from war, famine or poverty.

All these people, known and unknown, make up our big human family. At different points, they came into my life and broaden my perspective. Now as I am to make choices for myself, it is time to make efforts to improve their lives, because a world will benefit us all only if every one in it can lead a peaceful and prosperous life.

What is nature

What is nature? It's everything that exists in the world independently of people, such as pants and animals, earth and rocks, and the weather.

Now more and more people are focusing on the nature. It is no doubt that the nature is important to every human being. No nature, no life. Because of the supplies of the nature, we have lived happily for a long time. And we started to gain every thing available from the nature. And this lasted so long a time. Today, people have discovered that the nature around is getting worse and worse.

What is threatening the nature? Air and water pollution, overharvesting of plant and animal species, overpopulation and so on. Overpopulation is the biggest source of pollution. Let's take overpopulation as an example.

What does overpopulation feel like? When we move slowly through the city in a tazi. When we enter a crowded slum district. When the temperature is high and when the air is thick with dust and smoke. The streets are crowded with people. The streets seem alive with people. People eating. People washing. People talking. People sleeping. People visiting each other, arguing and screaming. People relieving themselves. People pushing their hands through the taxi windows, begging. People leading animals. People, people, people, people. As we drive slowly through the crowd, sounding the taxi's horn, the dust, heat, noise and cooking fires made it like a scene from hell! I admit, frightening.

To the nature, overpopulation is a big problem. More people, more pollution. And the big population is threatening the nature every second.

The rapid rise in world population is not creating problems only for the developing countries. The whole world faces the problem that raw materials are being used up at an increasing rate and food production can not keep up with the population increase. People in rich countries make the heaviest demands on the world's resources, its food, fuel and land, and cause the most pollution. A baby born in the United States will use in his lifetime 30 times more of the world's resources than a baby born in India. Unless all the countries of the world take united action to deal with the population explosion there will be more and more people fighting for a share of less and less land, food and fuel, and the future will bring poverty, misery and war to us all.

good afternoon!

recently, ther is a heated debate in our society. the college students are the beneficiaries of a rare privilege, who receive exceptional education at extraordinary places. but will we be able to face the challenge and support ourselves against all odds? will we be able to better the lives of others? will we be able to accept the responsibility of building the future of our country?

the cynics say the college students are the pampered lost generation, which would cringe at the slightest discomfort. but the cynics are wrong. the college students i see are eagerly learning about how to live independently. we help each other clean the dormitory, go shopping and bargain together, and take part time jobs to supplement our pocket money.

the cynics say we care for nothing other than grades; and we neglect the need for character cultivation. but again, the cynics are wrong. we care deeply for each other, we cherish freedom, we treasure justice, and we seek truth. last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.

as college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. we all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. i believe in all my fellow classmates. though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. i believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. we are preparing to assume new responsibilities and tasks, and to use the education we have received to make our world a better place. i believe in our future.
