As a child I often accompanied my father to his small coin shop and spenthours watching him work. When I was older, I sometimes set up displays, waitedon customers, and even balanced the books. This experience instilled in me thedesire to own and manage my own business someday, yet I understand that thebusiness world today is more complex. This complexity requires more education,and with that in mind, I am applying to the Master’s of Business Administrationprogram at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB).

In addition to my helping out in my father’s business, I have had numerousother work experiences that further enhance my qualifications for this resume enumerates the various positions I have held at Kerasotes Theaters,Chili’s restaurants, and Indiana University’s new Student Recreational SportsCenter (SRSC), and what all of these positions have in common is an emphasis onserving the public effectively. Further, as an assistant manager at theShowplace 11 and a staff coordinator at the SRSC, I have gained valuableexpertise in managing employees and creating work schedules. Both of thesepositions have allowed me to develop my sales and people skills, which areextremely important in an increasingly service-driven marketplace.

Not all of my work experience has been as a paid employee. Part of myvolunteering experience at Middleway House, the local battered women’s shelter,involved extensive work on computers, including word processing, organizingdatabases and creating spreadsheets. Also, I recently participated in aninternship program for academic credit with the Eli Lilly corporation in thepersonnel division. As a management intern, I was able to watch the workings ofa major corporation up close and would like the opportunity to combine myexperiences with the theoretical background available in the MBA program at IUB,with its emphasis on computers, marketing and human resources.

My successful internship is one element of my overall academic success asan undergraduate here at IUB, yet I have also made time for a variety ofextracurricular activities, including working for my sorority and competing inintramural basketball. My positive experiences here have resulted in my desireto stay in Bloomington to continue my academic endeavors; furthermore,continuing my education here would allow me to make important business contacts,with the career goal of opening my own computer consulting firm in theMidwest.

I have always enjoyed studying Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and I wouldlike the opportunity to continue this study. Chemical Engineering appeals to mebecause of the challenges involved in the application of scientific theory topractical, real world problems such as how to deal with nuclear waste. Iparticularly look forward to studying fluid dynamics as I was introduced to thisduring the Engineering Education Scheme (EES). I am aware that in today’s worldchemical engineering has an increasingly important role across a wide range ofindustries from pharmaceuticals to petrochemicals. The broad range of careerpaths, and the opportunity to contribute to society through technologicalinnovation, is for me, one of the main attractions of chemical engineering.

I have applied to take part in the Year In Industry scheme during which Ihope to gain practical experience, as well as greater maturity enabling me to gointo my degree course with improved skills and broader experience. I also hopeto study e-learning courses on project management and presentation skills run bythe IChemE. In Year 12 I took part in the EES, which improved my understandingand skills in team working, time management, and report writing, as well asvisual and oral presentation. Throughout the course of the project the team hadto frequently correspond with mentors in industry and academia and thisexperience has broadened my appreciation of practice and application in a reallife situation. In July I attended a week-long ‘Into Engineering’ seminar run byREACT Engineering. Working in two teams, we were given a design exercise basedupon a ty///picmissioning project. I also attended a Headstart courseat Newcastle University, which I thoroughly enjoyed. One of the main activitieswas to design, manufacture and test a small crane. I found both of theseexperiences very challenging, as we were given only limited time so we had toprioritise our tasks and carefully plan our work.

This year a fellow student and I were awarded ￡500 by the EuropeanScholarship Prize to fund a visit to Prague to do research for our A-levelHistory coursework. I gained an understanding of the city’s culture and historyand further developed my independence. During the summer I represented my schoolon a Connexions review of a government white paper on 14-19 education. I gainedan insight into the government’s proposals and learned a lot about working withdifferent groups of people. Last year I was part of the editorial team for theschool magazine. I wrote a number of articles and I was responsible for ensuringthat staff contributions were ready for the deadline. I also enjoy participatingin a range of sports and have represented the school at football and cricket,which has further enhanced my team working skills.

In my spare time I am working towards my Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. InSeptember I completed a 4-day expedition in the Lake District, which tested myendurance but gave me a great sense of achievement. As part of the award I havebeen helping at the local youth café once a week, which I am really enjoying asit gives me the chance to meet new people. I also enjoy reading, particularlybooks on physics and Russian history. I am really interested in computers and Iam currently trying to configure a Linux based file and print server for my homenetwork.

Ich hei?e Zhang Chen， komme aus der Stadt Beijing， VR China. Nach der Hochschulaufnahmepruefung habe ich bei der Studiengangwahl das Fach von Computer Wissenschaft und Technologie gew?hlt. Für meine Entscheidung zum Studium in Deutschland habe ich folgende Gründe，

Erstens， nach Deutschland zu studieren ist immer mein Traum. Deutschland ist eine entwickeltes Land， ihre Industrie， Wirtschaft liegt in den Spitze in der Welt. In diesem Land zu lernen und leben kann ich mehre Wissenschaften bekommen.

Zweitens， eine Schwester hatte ihres Studium in Deutschland abgeschlossen. Sie erklaert mir oft ihre Leben in Deutschland. Damals verfuellt Neid in meinem Herz. 此外，我還通過選拔，成為學校合唱隊的一員，加入了GLOBE氣象觀測小組。更為光榮的是，我被選為第一批入黨積極分子，在業餘黨校努力學習……在這一系列的學習和工作中，我提升了自身的素養，也收穫了不少榮譽。20_、20_年連續兩屆獲得“中國少年作家杯”全國徵文大賽一等獎;20__年獲第七屆“新作文杯”全國中國小生放膽作文大賽高中組一等獎;20_年校“新新文學”徵文比賽一等獎，並被評為校優秀團員、三好學生。

二、一次經歷

20_年9月16日是_紀念日。作為文學社社長，我以此為主題帶頭撰寫了一批稿件。9月15日，我突然接到了校領導的電話，表示欣賞我的文章，並邀請我作為一名學生代表在紀念大會上發言，但必須新擬講稿。進入高三以後學業繁重，當時我也身患感冒，噪音大打折扣，是不是婉拒這次邀請呢?經過了片刻的猶豫之後，我決定給自己一個挑戰的機會。憑着擔任校史講解員所積累的知識，通過查閲相關史料，我很快寫出了講稿《永為國之棟》。

16日早晨，在全校師生、各屆校友和眾多市民的注視下，我從容地走上主席台，深吸一口氣，朗聲説道：“親愛的老師、同學們，今天，當我們翻開安慶一中厚重的史稿，我們不會忘記這樣一個日子……”當我結束髮言、鞠躬致謝時，台下爆發出的熱烈掌聲告訴我;我做到了!校長讚許地拍了拍我的頭，同學們紛紛向我表示祝賀——大家都沒有發現我的噪音的小祕密。當日，我的講稿被選登在《安慶日報》專版上，很多素不相識的師生見到我都説：“你是在大會上發言的※※吧!講得真好!”

雖然這次經歷只是我多彩的高中生活中的一個小小的片段，雖然這不是我最光鮮耀眼的榮譽，但它卻最讓我引以為傲;因為我明白了：相信自己，我可以做得更好!

三、一個夢想

想成為一名優秀新聞工作者的我，如今站在高三這個人生的十字路口，但步伐卻一如從前，自信堅定。_大學就是我始終堅持的方向。她以她“自強不息、止於至善”的精神，深厚的文化底藴及一流的教學水平深深地吸引着年輕的我。

20_年夏天，我同父母特地來到祖國的東南明珠_，提前感受了_那温暖親切的懷抱。漫步於優雅大方的校園，看着來來往往的哥哥姐姐陽光的臉龐，品嚐着_食堂可口的沙茶麪，我真切地感受到：就是_!這就是我追逐夢想的舞台!

My name is Lan Xi, a Ph.D. candidate studying Land Resource Management in College of Public Management, China University of Geosciences.
