It‟s not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees. It‟s the matter of the will. It‟s the freshness of the deep spring of life.

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years . We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . Worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .

我們每個人都是農夫。我們若種下好種子，就會有豐收。倘若種子長得不良且長滿雜草，我們就會徒勞無獲。如果我們什麼也不種，就根本不會有什麼收穫。

我希望未來會比過去更好。我不希望未來會被那些充斥在歷史中的錯誤所污染。我們應關心未來，因為往後的餘生都要在未來中度過。

往昔已一去不復返而且是靜止的。任憑我們怎麼努力都不能改變過去。英語短文未來就在我們眼前而且是動態的。我們的所作所為都會影響未來。

只要我們體會的出來，每天都可以發現新的知識領域伴隨而生，可能是在家裏，也可能是在我們的事業中。我們正處在人類所努力鑽研的每個領域中進步的起點。

An old woman had a cat. The cat was very old; she could not run quickly,and she could not bite, because she was so old. One day the old cat saw a mouse;she jumped and caught the mouse. But she could not bite it; so the mouse got outof her mouth and ran away, because the cat could not bite it.

Then the old woman became very angry because the cat had not killed themouse. She began to hit the cat. The cat said, "Do not hit your old servant. Ihave worked for you for many years, and I would work for you still, but I am tooold. Do not be unkind to the old, but remember what good work the old did whenthey were young."

一位老婦有隻貓，這隻貓很老，它跑不快了，也咬不了東西，因為它年紀太大了。一天，老貓發現一隻老鼠，它跳過去抓這隻老鼠，然而，它咬不住這隻老鼠。因此，老鼠從它的嘴邊溜掉了，因為老貓咬不了它。

於是，老婦很生氣，因為老貓沒有把老鼠咬死。她開始打這隻貓，貓説：“不要打你的老僕人，我已經為你服務了很多年，而且還願意為你效勞，但是，我實在太老了，對年紀大的不要這麼無情，要記住老年人在年青時所做過的有益的事情。”
