而出遊媽閣廟的最佳時期是在春節期間，因為這段時間香火最旺，而且還會舉行不少傳統活動。不少善男信女紛紛前來拜神祈福，廟前空地會蓋搭一大竹棚，作為臨時舞台，上演神功戲。

媽閣廟由"神山第一"殿、弘仁殿、正覺禪林、觀音閣等部分組成，各建築規模雖然細小簡陋，但卻能充分融合自然，佈局錯落有致。

入口大門

大家可以看到入口大門的花崗石建築，它寬4.5米，只開有一個門洞，門楣有"媽祖閣"三字，兩側為對聯，三部份均有琉璃瓦頂等裝飾，其中門楣頂部更有飛檐狀屋脊，脊上裝有瓷制寶珠及鰲魚。

牌坊

緊跟媽閣廟大門後的是一個三間四柱沖天式牌坊，也由花崗石建造而成，並有四隻石獅分置在柱頭上。

弘仁殿

大家現在來到了規模最小的弘仁殿，殿堂只有3平方米左右。

觀音殿

位於最高處的觀音殿，主要由磚石構築而成，其建築較為簡樸，為硬山式做法。

正覺禪林

大家現在來到的是正覺禪林，這座禪林不管在規模上或是在建築形式上都較為講究，建築由供奉天后之神殿及靜修區組成。修區建築為一般民房，屬硬山式磚結構，而神殿則為一四架樑結構、主殿前有一內院，兩側側廊為捲棚式屋頂、主殿區被二列各三枝柱分為三個開間，屋頂為琉璃瓦坡頂，兩邊側牆頂部為金字形"鑊耳"山牆，有防火意思，具濃烈的閩南特色，位於內院前之正立面，由左至右可分為五部份，中間最高兩邊漸低，牆身有泥塑裝飾，牆頂則以琉璃瓦裝飾，而在琉璃瓦檐下是三層象徵斗拱之花飾，此外，中間部份尚開有一半徑為1.1米的圓形窗洞，而琉璃瓦頂上之飛檐及瓷制寶珠裝飾，亦顯示出此殿之重要性。

媽祖閣平時香火不絕，每年農曆除夕、三月廿三日媽祖寶誕、九月九日重九節，這裏更是人山人海，熱鬧非凡。
