三年前，我和爸爸媽媽遊覽了沙湖。走進沙湖公園登上蓼撩望塔向東望去，湖水無邊無際，水天一色。向北望去是沙子的世界，一座座沙山聳立湖邊，好像是湖水忠實的守衞者。這裏一面是水，一面是沙，讓遊人感到奇特，新穎，不可思議。

我們坐船從南岸到北岸，只見湖水碧綠，深不可測，一排排大浪衝撞湖岸發出轟響。湖中成片的蘆葦隨風搖曳，猶如水中森林。小船飛馳進蘆葦蕩，在蘆葦叢中穿梭，驚起成千上萬只水鳥，他們尖叫着飛起來，在空中盤旋，遮天蔽日。當船速減慢，你會看見水中的魚兒成羣結隊，互相追逐嬉戲，好似一幅原始古樸的圖畫。這裏遠離城市的高樓，遠離汽車和喧鬧，只有湖水，沙子，小鳥和魚兒，就像傳説中的世外桃園。

到了北岸，是座座沙山和茫茫沙海，在陽光照射下金光閃閃。我向沙山爬去，一落腳，沙子就沒過腳脖子，走一步退半步，讓人感到在沙子中行走的艱難。氣呼呼的我終於爬上了山頂。

從沙山上往下滑，只聽沙子嗦嗦的響，細細的沙子覆蓋在腿上，暖暖的，隨我從高出落下。

沙灘的東西有專供遊人騎的駱駝。我騎上一頭高大的駱駝，開始膽戰心驚，害怕駱駝把我甩下來。駱駝好象明白我此時的心情，在沙灘上哄小孩似的慢慢走着。漸漸的，聰明的駱駝在沙灘上撒野了，跑了一圈又一圈。真過癮啊!

騎夠了駱駝，我們坐在湖邊休息，聽爸爸講沙湖動人的傳説。距今八九百年前，西夏國王李元昊打了敗仗，帶着幾千名敗兵逃進沙漠，一連幾天都找不到水喝。正當面臨絕境的時候，眼前奇蹟般出現了沙湖。西夏人認為這是"長生天"在保佑他們，從此把沙湖尊奉為"聖湖"。然而，多少年來，這裏一直是一片荒涼。直到改革開放，當地人民和政府才把沙湖開發成國家級風景區，讓"聖湖"真正為人民造福。
