愛晚亭頂上是由綠色的琉璃瓦築成的，紅色的柱子，綠色的欄杆。柱子上還有毛主席寫的對聯呢!一陣風吹過，愛晚亭兩旁翠綠的柳樹被風吹的沙沙作響，愛晚亭前的大胡也泛起了層層波紋，這個湖十分美麗，翠綠的湖面像一塊碧綠的玉一樣，清澈見底。愛晚亭中央還有許多座位和棋盤，供遊客們休息和下棋。

走過愛晚亭，往一條小山路走去就來到了清風泉。

清風泉中有一個小井似的洞，接泉水的人們可以把水罐放在小洞裏接水，泉水冰冰的，像從冰箱裏拿出來似的，水十分清澈，聽説喝下清風泉的水可以越活越年輕。

沿着清風泉旁的小山路上去，就可以到鳥語林裏去遊玩。鳥語林裏有成百上千只稀有小鳥，比如貓頭鷹，金鋼鷹鵡，大嘴鳥等等，全是我們平常很難見到的鳥。

經過鳥語林再走一段路程就到了嶽麓山的最頂峯了，站在嶽麓山頂上可以看到整個大河西，到處都是一片繁華的景象。

這裏就是嶽麓山，海拔300。8米，是南嶽七十二峯之一。它猶如一道天然屏障，橫亙於長沙市區西面。

我們現在位於嶽麓山山腳，請大家和我一起看，這邊這座瓦片上長滿苔蘚的老房子，就是著名的嶽麓書院。嶽麓書院是中國歷史文化長河中的一顆璀璨的明珠。它與白麓洞書院、嵩陽書院、應天書院合稱中國四大書院。它歷史悠久，始建於公元976年。南宋著名理學家、教育家朱熹曾在此講學。

我們繼續往上走，看，這就是愛晚亭。四根紅豔豔的柱子，就像一棵松樹一樣，筆直地挺立在我們的眼前，支撐着這兩層綠油油的屋頂。從遠處看，活像一棵大樹。與這山清水秀的景色完美地結合在了一起。亭子的頂上還有着愛晚亭三個閃閃發光的金色大字。

愛晚亭原名是紅葉亭，後來由於著名的唐代詩人杜牧寫的《山行》中的詩句：停車坐愛楓林晚，霜葉紅於二月花，才改名為愛晚亭。它還被譽為中國四大名亭之一。
